Best practices

How to get the most from this form.

Require a minimum length for personal statements

Set a minimum character count on the personal statement field (200+ characters) to ensure substantive responses. Brief or copy-pasted answers are filtered out automatically.

Accept transcript uploads in multiple formats

Official transcripts come as PDFs, scanned JPEGs, or PNGs depending on the institution. Accept all common formats to avoid creating unnecessary barriers for applicants.

Make recommendation letters optional but encouraged

Requiring a letter of recommendation at the application stage can deter strong candidates. Consider making it optional at first and requesting it only for shortlisted applicants.

State the deadline clearly

Include the application deadline in the form's description and in the confirmation email. Applicants need a clear date to work backwards from.

FAQ

Common questions.

What should a scholarship application form include?
A scholarship application should collect: Full name, Contact information, Current school and year of study, Field of study, GPA or academic average, Personal statement, Financial need statement (optional), Official transcript (file upload), and Letter of recommendation (optional file upload).
Can applicants upload transcripts and recommendation letters?
Yes. The scholarship application template includes file upload fields for both. Formiqa stores uploads on Cloudflare R2 — encrypted at rest — with 1 GB free on the free plan and 10 GB on Pro.
How do I review applications fairly?
Export all submissions to CSV (Formiqa Pro) to create a consistent evaluation spreadsheet. Review personal statements and uploaded documents from the dashboard. Using a rubric applied consistently across all applications reduces bias.
Can I set an application deadline?
Formiqa doesn't have a built-in deadline feature, but you can unpublish the form manually when the deadline passes. Consider adding the deadline date in the form description so applicants see it clearly.
Is this suitable for a university scholarship or a private foundation?
Both. The template is designed to be adapted. University scholarships might add a student ID field. Private foundations might add fields about community involvement or leadership experience.
